Once again, your Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado, KKTV 11 News, Mobile Record Shredders and Blue Star Recyclers helped protect the identity of Colorado Springs residents at a document shredding event, better known as “Letter Rip!" Day.
On October 5, 2012 more than 300 cars -- filled with hundreds of boxes containing personal documents -– drove through the parking lot at Colorado Springs Sky Sox/Security Services Federal Credit Union Field. In just four hours, 18,000 pounds, or nine tons of documents were shredded.
Representatives from Blue Star Recyclers estimate that they collected 2,500 pounds of electronic waste for recycling and shred 75 hard drives.
Donations were accepted and approximately $800 was collected on behalf of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado Foundation. The organization will use the money to fund two scholarships to recognize excellence in education.
Due to the high demand from the community, this is the second “Letter Rip!" Day held in Colorado Springs this year.
